Here are the top five stories today in Douglasville:

  1. Police are warning residents about multiple car break-ins in Douglasville neighborhoods. On Saturday between 2:00 a.m. and 4:40 a.m., 50 unlocked cars were robbed in Cedar Forest Drive, Braylen Manor Drive, and Chicago Park. Surveillance footage available from nearby homes shows numerous suspects committing the crimes. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is looking for someone relating to a murder case. Harold Dakers, 34, was last seen in Villa Rica. Police have not released any additional information on the murder that occurred this past Friday. (WSB Atlanta)
  3. On Nov. 2, warrants were issued for two men in Douglas County suspected of fraud and forgery. Douglasville’s Jamal Bradley and Xavier McGee have been identified as the suspects. Commissioner John F. King claimed that the two forged medical records and bills after a car accident in May 2021, receiving a payout of about $54,000 from Progressive Insurance Company.   4. Tonight, the college basketball season starts with the game between the Georgetown Hoyas and the Coppin State Eagles. Douglasville’s own Malik Battle plays guard for the Eagles. As a high school student, Battle played at both South Georgia Technical College and Alexander High School. Hoya Coppin State also played last night against the Charlotte 49ers, which was featured on ESPN+. (Casual Hoya)
