Here are the top three stories in East Cobb today:

  1. A Marietta gym faces a lawsuit after a teen athlete was allegedly raped by a now-former coach. In September, the Cobb County police Department reported it was investigating a report of “inappropriate conduct” between an instructor and an underaged victim at the Stingray Allstars gym. The owner of the gym states he and his staff reported the incident to authorities as soon as they were made aware. (11 Alive)
  2. Cobb County schools will have a virtual learning day on Dec. 6 because of the U.S. Senate runoff election in Georgia. As per a notice from school officials, students will have independent work to complete and will not be expected to log on for live sessions. Staff will follow the protocol and schedule from Election Day. (Marietta Patch)
  3. This Friday is Geographic Information System (GIS) Day, and Cobb County GIS is hosting two events to celebrate. From Monday, Nov. 14 (today) through Friday, Nov. 18, Cobb County GIS is hosting a virtual fun run. To cap off the week, the community is invited to a GIS informational session at Sewell Mill Library and Cultural Center from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday. (Cobb County Public Library via Facebook)
