Carson City, Nevada — On Wednesday, July 27, 2022 at 1:00pm PT Google will co-host an online workshop with the Office of Small Business Advocacy for local small businesses as part of the tech company’s ‘Grow with Google’ initiative. ‘Grow with Google’ aims to help create economic opportunity in communities across the United States by providing free training, tools, and expertise for people to grow their skills, careers, and businesses. Lieutenant Governor Lisa Cano Burkhead is joining the workshop to welcome participants and reinforce the importance of digital skills in Nevada.

“Grow With Google is a tremendous opportunity for Nevada entrepreneurs to build their digital footprint and grow their small business,” Lieutenant Governor Cano Burkhead said. “I urge all Nevada small businesses to register for this class and I hope it helps power your business even further.”

The virtual workshop, “Reach Customers Online With Google,” will be led by Grow with Google Professional Trainer Israel Serna, and will teach small business owners how they can be found online with Google Search and how to improve their website’s visibility with Search Engine Optimizations (SEO). Grow with Google workshops provide digital skills training and coaching tailored to help small businesses reach new customers and grow their businesses online. In Nevada, Grow with Google has partnered with more than 60 organizations to train more than 88,000 Nevadans in digital skills, including public libraries, chambers of commerce, community colleges, and more.

“More than 185,000 Nevada businesses used Google tools to connect with customers in the last year,” shared Javier González, Google’s Interim Head of U.S. Southwest Region External Affairs & Public Policy, “The goal of these Grow with Google workshops is to ensure more entrepreneurs across the state can develop the digital skills they need to reach new customers and thrive in this changing economy.”

Local nonprofits – libraries, government agencies, and educational institutions – are also invited to join the ‘Grow with Google’ partner program, a free network for local organizations which provides a range of training content, tools, and promotional materials, as well as best practices to continue sharing ‘Grow with Google’ resources with their community.
